Did those caps get your attention? How many of you awesome people would want to come over to my house on Friday, February 13th (yes, Friday the 13th) for an awesome-just-like-you party / get together. Because I'm pretty poor, it will be a BYO-drink deal, but I will be a little prepared. You all know me, and you all know I'm awesome. Come meet my dog! Do stuff over here that you would normally do at your house, except awesome-er.

Did you know that I do a podcast with my very good friend Carl? It's true. Want to listen to it? Click down below...

If you liked what you heard, then head over to our page on TalkShoe.com and download our shows. We've got 4 (or 4.5...) up so far, and have plans for many, many more.

We've also got a blog where we dump show notes and stuff that is more visual than auditory. We wax poetic about life and the world as well. Check that out, if you're of a mind.

Do you listen to podcasts via RSS feeds? Well, we've got one of them too... http://recordings.talkshoe.com/rss23055.xml
27th-Feb-2008 05:39 am - So...
Megaman

Why haven't I written a blog is such a long time?  Because, to be honest, I haven't felt like it.  Even though a lot of things have happened to me, I just haven't felt like it.  But I find myself with some extra time this morning.  So, here's what's up.

Starting with work...I'm becoming more frustrated by the day.  I find myself looking for reasons to not be there.  Take tonight, for instance.  I took a spur of the moment vacation day.  No reason.  I was talking to another officer last night, and he was thinking about taking tonight off as well.  He talked me into it.  So I spent the night doing the weekly chores that I set for myself.  And this will leave me with a night (Thursday) with nothing to do.  I think I might sleep in.

I've also got a couple more vacation days coming up, the 10th and 11th or March, if anyone wants to hang out.  I know I'm a lame-ass, but I've got a nice house to hang out in.  So come use it.  I'll even cook you dinner.

I haven't heard anything from the Belmont teaching interview, despite the fact that I should have heard something, one way or the other, a few weeks ago.  I've decided that I didn't get the job.  There was, however, an opening for a teacher at Noble, where I already work.  A lady who works in Personnel tipped me off to it, and I applied.  I haven't heard anything from that either.  And like the Belmont job, I don't expect to get it.  But there's nothing wrong with trying.

The first bit of work on the house started last week.  The termite inspector found damage in the floor joists in the basement, so my step-dad and a friend of his are helping me to replace / repair them.  There aren't any live termites, or eggs, just damage.  It's turning out to be a much bigger job than they expected, and will probably take a month at least to complete.  Once that's done, we're going to get to work on the outside drain in back of the house.  I get water in the basement bathroom, where I shower, when it rains hard, and I'd rather not.  So we've got to fix that too.  After those two things are done, all repair work should be done, and everything that's left that I want to do will be cosmetic.  I'm looking forward to all of that.  The actual working...not so much.

I met a girl.  A woman, actually.  And she isn't a friend of someone else that I know.  I met her all on my own.  We've been seeing each other for about a month.  She's a super-secret spy, and her family owns something.  I don't want to go into too many details, so feel free to ask me anything you want to know.  But I will say the following:

  • She is older than me.
  • She is hot.

We have a good time together, and she's a pleasure to be around.  I'm looking forward to all of my friends meeting her (meaning, I want to show her off).  Besides myself and a select few, she's probably one of the most intelligent people in this town.  And that's a plus as well.

I went to the dentist last week, after a six-year separation.  And the told me that, despite having not been to a professional cleaning in more than half a decade, they rarely see teeth as good as mine.  So you should be jealous.  Jealous of my m@d 7337H 5k!11z (mad teeth skills).  My next stop will be to an honest-to-god doctor for a serious working over.  I don't think I've ever been to a doctor for anything more than a physical to get a job, so I'm interested in seeing exactly what happens in a doctor's office.  Topics to cover with the doc:  the ingrown toenail on the big toe of my right foot, and the rapid reduction of hair on the top of my head.  Also, whether the pills I'm taking really do anything, and if they're healthy.  I expect he'll tell me to quit smoking and drinking so much, but...you know.  Whatever.

What else...

I'm getting a healthy refund from the government on my taxes, and I'm going to use it to buy Rock Band, and maybe a Blu-Ray player (since the format war is over).  The rest of it will maybe buy paint, or book cases, or cocaine.  I haven't decided yet.

I haven't seen any movies lately.  Cloverfield and Juno are the most recent, and that was a few weeks ago.  I enjoyed them both, by the way.

Um...I made Chinese for dinner tonight.  It was pretty good.  And LOST is back on, and has been pretty good.  The rest of TV will be starting back up soon, as well.

I guess that's it.  I ran out of steam pretty quickly.  But you get the idea.

3rd-Feb-2008 09:44 am - Free Evenings!
Green Arrow
So...I've got training this upcoming week, in the mornings, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Because of this, I've taken Monday and Friday as my days off.

What all that amounts to is that I'll have every evening free this week. Has my schedule been such that you have been unable to visit my new house, and bask in my godly light? Would you like to eat a meal that I prepared with my own two hands (and the fingers of a hobo I found down by the tracks)? Do you want to set up a small meth lab in my basement, snort a few lines of blow off of a dead hookers tits, and beat up old women in the nearby hospital? If any of these things sound like something you'd like to do (also available are: watch a movie, hang out and talk, play a video game, go for a drive, etc.), please, by all means, get in touch with me through any of the various methods available to you.

Email works.
As does this insipid MySpace messaging service.
AIM is usually on.
And of course, you can call me (I may or may not answer...leave a message).

Don't make me spend an entire week alone in this old house with just my thoughts and a bottle of corn mash I made in the bathtub. Come spend an evening with me. I'll share the mash. I'm not greedy.

Friendship is the most important thing in the world.  Even more important than family.

Your family loves you, for the most part, because they have to.  You share blood with them.

But your friends...they love you because they choose to.  And to squander or take that love for granted...you may as well give up now because you don't deserve the friends you've got.

I know I don't.
17th-Jan-2008 06:59 pm - Friday Night Party Night
Raphael
I'm sitting here drinking a Southern Comfort (100 proof) and Generic Pepsi, eating a couple hot dogs, and thinking, "You know, I bet that some of the people coming to my party Friday night don't know how to get to my house..."  Always thinking of you, am I.  So here are directions, courtesy of Google, to my house from Wal-Mart:

From:
Wal-Mart Supercenter
61205 Southgate Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725

4.1 mi – about 11 mins

1.  Head northwest on Southgate Rd/Southgate Pkwy toward Dozer Rd/Township Hwy 4351
Continue to follow Southgate Pkwy
2.  Turn right at Wheeling Ave
3.  Turn left at N 10th St
4.  Turn right to stay on N 10th St
5.  Turn right at Brooklyn Ave
6.  I'm the second house on the right once you're on Brooklyn (brick)

To:
1337 Brooklyn Ave
Cambridge, OH 43725

"Additionally," I thought, "the party-comers may not know what time to arrive!"  Fear not, for I bring the information you seek.  People will be trickling in beginning around 5-6 until almost 11 most like.  So, show up whenever.  Just make sure that show up you do.

"Finally," I thought, "what if they worry about what sundries to bring?"  I told myself that no one uses the word "sundry" anymore, then began to think...would it not be easier for me to list what I'll be providing?  I should think it would.  Here is a list:
-Three (THREE!) kinds of chips, with appropriate dipping sauces
-Six (6) bottles of Molson XXX
-VIII cans of Coors Light
-A Crockpot full of mulled, spiced wine (trust me, its good)
-Most of a pint of the Southern Comfort that I'm drinking right now...probably
-Mozzarella Sticks
-10 cans of Generic Mountain Dew
I also have some juice, milk, water (of course), and some Gatorade.  I can also make tea if anyone wants some.  No coffee though.

I believe pizza is being provided by Carl (please correct me if I'm wrong).  So, if you want something that is not on the list, please feel free to bring it.  I won't be offended.

Activities will include, but are not limited to:
-I got a Wii, so we can play that
-I got Apples to Apples too...we can play that
-Cards
-Orgy
-Ritual sacrifice of a virgin (have to go find one, I think)
-Guitar Hero 2
-Of course, movies

I think everyone is going to have a good time once I slip them some X and a rufie.

Yay!
